awardFriends of Breastfeeding are delighted to be one of the nominated charities on My Kids Time for 2013. The winning charity with the most votes by midnight 31st January will become the  My Kids Time Charity of the Year and will receive support and advertising throughout the year. Please take a minute to cast you vote by clicking on the link http://www.mykidstime.ie/d/vote-2013-mykidstime-charity-year We are the only breastfeeding support charity to be nominated and would love the chance to help even more mothers in Ireland have the breastfeeding experience they choose.  The way the awards are set up means that you can vote for more then one charity, so even if you make us your second choice, it makes a big difference to us.  You can also vote once a day so if you’re that way inclined, who are we to complain? :P
As always we appreciate your support and look forward to another busy year!

breastfeeding-rocksAs many of you may recall, Independent Midwife Philomena Canning took a brave stand back in November 2012 when she declined an award for Midwife of the Year due to the awards being sponsored by a formula company, The SMA Know – How Maternity & Infant Awards.

An online petition  was set up and we have 885 signatures to date – wonderful, people power!!! Following the protest, Philomena wrote to ABA (An Bord Altranais – The Irish Nursing Board) on the 28th of December.
The midwives now badly need your support to get ABA to act on the letter. So if you have a minute or two, please consider dropping a line or two to the CEO Dr Pidgeon, letting him know that you support the demands made by the midwives and await the response of the Board with interest.

Pop your email to Dr Maura Pidgeon, CEO @: ceo@nursingboard.ie

Thank you for your continued support

Christmas Cards!

Take Action!

The following petition is being circulated to show opposition to the sponsorship of the Maternity and Infant awards by formula companies. If you feel it is unethical for a formula company to sponsor the Maternity and Infant Awards, please add your voice. Thanks!
